Laser Spiral Diamonds

Efficiency, significantly decreasing surgery time while maximizing fat extraction and aesthetic results, is critical to a liposculpting surgery.

Avellanet Surgical Aesthetics’ line of Diamonds and their use with a laser includes the Laser Diamonds, described in the previous blog, and the Laser Spiral Diamonds.  By listening to the needs of new liposuction professionals using laser technology with suction, efficiency with molding and shaping the silhouette, along with skin retraction by applying laser energy, is consistently mentioned as a priority.

The Laser Spiral Diamonds are the second design of the diamond cannulas to be used with an integrated laser fiber for simultaneous lasing and suction.  The Laser Spiral Diamonds were  developed for experienced laser liposuction professionals who want to improve efficiency and maximize results.   What is specific to Laser Spiral Diamonds is:

Additional same size diamond-shaped openings placed in a spiral shape, under the four diamonds at the tip to:

  •      Effectively and efficiently grasp the tissue
  •      Rapidly remove large amounts of fat
  •      Decreases time spent during suctioning

The diamond-shaped openings-spiral diamonds-laser fiber unit is highly effective for:

  •      debulking
  •      sculpting
  •      high definition/etching
  •      less physical effort and improved surgical efficiency
  •      lesser surgical time
  •      enhanced patient’s recovery and results

The Laser Spiral Diamonds are available as one set of three cannulas of various lengths:
(2) 4 mm and (1) 5 mm or sold individually.

Laser Diamonds Cannulas

Efficiency, significantly decreasing surgery time while maximizing fat extraction and aesthetic results, is critical to a liposculpting surgery.

In 2022, Avellanet Surgical Aesthetics launched the Precision Diamonds®️line of cannulas.  These cannulas feature custom-designed diamond-shaped openings placed in a spiral fashion, with a spatula-like tip and an integrated handle.  These cannulas are precision-crafted in design and engineering to achieve optimal results for the patient and the cosmetic specialist.

The line has now expanded to include Diamonds and their use with laser.  By listening to the needs of new liposuction professionals using laser technology with suction, efficiency with skin tightening by applying laser energy is a priority.

The first developed design for new liposuction professionals is the Laser Diamonds which include:

Diamond-shaped openings to maximize fat extraction

Four (4) same-size diamond-shaped openings at the tip to easily accommodate a laser fiber

The diamond-shaped openings-laser fiber unit is highly effective for:

  • connective tissue penetration
  • pre-tunneling
  • ease of fibrous-tissue manipulation
  • efficient fat extraction
  • improved retraction of the overlying skin
  • improved surgical efficiency for the liposuction professional
  • enhanced patient recovery and results

The Laser Diamonds are available as one set of three cannulas of various lengths: (2) 3 mm and (1) 4 mm or sold individually.*

Precision Diamonds®

THE STORY, THE WHY, AND THE HOW: After thousands of liposuction/liposculpting procedures, it was time to upgrade the Diamond. The Diamond cannula was initially designed by my father, Dr. Carlos Avellanet, over a decade ago. It occurred to him that creating the tip of a cannula with diamond-shaped openings strategically placed in a spiral manner would increase the efficiency of the cannula in suctioning the fat during a liposuction/liposculpting procedure. In 2019, after I had also personally performed thousands of liposuction/ liposculpting procedures and after trying many cannula designs, we developed a new version of the Diamond cannula.

After my father had collaborated with Clinimed many years ago, Clinimed and I encountered each other by not so much mere chance and immediately started collaborating on this project. Clinimed is a fourth-generation family-owned business, so they immediately understood the importance of delivering a unique and special product. They took our basic design and developed the Precision Diamonds®.

THE DESCRIPTION: The Precision Diamonds® are the first cannulas designed, engineered, and precision-crafted to achieve optimal results for both patients and Cosmetic Specialists, custom-designed with diamond openings and an integrated handle, making them unique to the market. Our extensive experience provided us the insight to create an innovative spatula-like tip with the diamond-shaped openings on the Precision Diamonds®, easing penetration into the skin and reducing friction. We also integrated the handle making it one piece, making the Precision Diamonds® more responsive to the Cosmetic Specialist’s ability to manipulate fat extraction, working more efficiently and reducing the patient’s time in the surgical suite. The handle is smaller and enhances ease of use as it sits comfortably in the palm, preferred in more lengthy procedures. Finally, we strategically placed the diamond openings in a spiral shape and made them all the same size to maximize fat extraction. The tip accommodates the diamond openings in a vertical line on every side without being able to see through the cannula from any side, which significantly improves the efficacy and efficiency of the design.

THE NEED: All the above features of the design improve fat removal efficiency during a liposuction/liposculpting procedure. The cannula effectively and efficiently grasps the tissue to be treated, rapidly removing higher amounts in lesser time. This design provides the Cosmetic Specialist with reassurance that an instrument will optimally perform and deliver, maximizing the results and minimizing time spent during suctioning.

THE RECOMMENDATION: This cannula design is for expert hands in mind. After the Cosmetic Specialist understands the tissue at hand and has performed many procedures using other cannula designs, the Precision Diamonds® will optimize the work and deliver excellent and acceptable results.

AREAS TO BE TREATED: The Precision Diamonds® come in 3 sizes, 3mm, 4mm, and 5mm, and are used in body liposuction and liposculpting procedures for debulking large areas, suctioning areas where the fat is most fibrous, and definition during etching.

FINAL PRODUCT: The design of The Precision Diamonds® and the experience of collaborating with Clinimed in the manufacturing and delivery of the final product have been very fulfilling experiences. I am already working with Clinimed on other projects that will continue to create cutting-edge surgical instruments to enhance surgical results and improve patient outcomes.

PEARLS ABOUT THE LIPOSUCTION ASPIRATE

The most exciting part of a liposculpting surgery, especially for the patient awake, is the aspiration of the fat, as the fat is suctioned with a cannula, travels in the tubing, and is deposited in the fat canister. Patients are in awe and satisfied to see that finally, those pockets of stubborn, accumulated fat will be gone for good.

Local tumescent anesthesia fluid is used to anesthetize the areas treated by liposuction. Upon
aspiration, fat and blood-tinged tumescent anesthesia fluid will be extracted. Aspirate fills the canister and settles, the contents divide into:

• A top layer of oil
• A yellow layer of fat (supranatant fat) FAT FLOATS!
• A bottom layer of blood-tinged anesthetic solution (infranatant fluid)

PEARLS ABOUT THE LIPOSUCTION ASPIRATE:

• The total aspirate volume is an inaccurate measure of post-operative complications as the vasoconstriction offered by the tumescent anesthesia eliminates surgical blood loss.
• It is essential to maintain the extract count, as the amount of pure fat taken out at a time varies by state/country regulations. This regulation is for patients’ safety.
• The patient’s size and amount of areas to be treated are essential factors in maintaining the patient’s safety and avoiding potential complications.
• At the end of the surgery, the total volume collected in the canisters is added. Then the total is divided into what is pure fat and blood-tinged-tumescent anesthesia fluid.
• Sufficient time (> 30 minutes) needs to pass for the fat and the tumescent fluid to separate. The time passed will provide a good indication of the volume of fat aspirated.
• Factors that will determine the supranatant volume/infranatant volume ratio, making the aspirate contain more infranatant tumescent fluid, are:
• Time elapsed between the completion of anesthesia fluid infiltration and the beginning of surgery
• Fibrous areas of liposuction
• Males (more fibrous fat)
• Patients that have lost significant weight
• Experience in the liposuction technique

Safety is always first, but patients will always ask about the amount of fat extracted as they will still be in awe and fascinated by how much was taken out of their bodies. Safety + results = satisfied patient.
